Survey On Impact Of Climate Change On Human Health

Survey On Impact Of Climate Change On Mental Health By: Amna Iftikhar Introduction: Throughout history, climate and weather have had an impact on human health. The environment that gives us clean air to breathe, food to eat, water to drink, shelter to live in, and security to live in is affected by changes in climate and climate variability, notably changes in weather extremes. The health and well-being of people are at risk from climate change and other natural and man-made stressors in many different ways. The concepts of climate and weather are often confused. Weather is the state of the atmosphere at any given time and place. Severe weather conditions include hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, and droughts. Climate is the average weather conditions that persist over multiple decades or longer. While the weather can change in minutes or hours, identifying a change in climate has required observations over a time period of decades to centuries or longer. Climate change encompa...

Assessing Public Awareness About Gene Drive Technology in Mosquetoes to Prevent Malaria

Image
By: Narmeen Maqsood GENE DRIVE TECHNOLOGY OF MOSQUITO TO PREVENT MALARIA : Gene drives are selfish genetic elements that can be re-designed to invade a population, and they hold tremendous potential for the control of mosquitoes that transmit disease. Much progress has been made recently in demonstrating proof of principle for gene drives able to suppress populations of malarial mosquitoes or to make them refractory to the Plasmodium parasites they transmit. Gene drives that are designed to spread and impose a suppressive effect on either the mosquito or the parasite it transmits are expected eventually, like any intervention, to select for resistance in each organism, respectively. (Nolan.,2020) Gene-drive-modified mosquitoes hold promise as new tools for the control and elimination of malaria and other mosquito-borne diseases. GDMMs aim to achieve area-wide control with characteristics that differ substantially from current insecticide-based mosquito control methods, rais...

Survey on In Vitro Fertilization-A Cure or Complications?

Image
Today, in vitro fertilization (IVF) is practically a household word. But not so long ago, it was a mysterious procedure for infertility that produced what were then known as "test-tube babies." Louise Brown, born in England in 1978, was the first such baby to be conceived outside her mother's womb. Unlike the simpler process of artificial insemination in which sperm is placed in the uterus and conception happens otherwise normally. In vitro fertilization is a process of fertilization where an egg is combined with sperm in vitro. The process involves monitoring and stimulating a woman's ovulatory process, removing an ovum or ova from her ovaries and letting sperm fertilize them in a culture medium in a laboratory. IVF is a complex and expensive procedure only about 5% of couples with infertility seeks it out. However, since its introduction in the U.S. in 1981, 1.9% of all babies in the U.S. are born through IVF and other assisted reproductive technologies (ART). ...
