EFFECTS OF MOBILE PHONE RADIATIONS ON HUMAN BODY

Being an occupant of the 21st century, we all know that cellular phones are the utmost necessity of this time. Cell phones are part of our lives. It is clearly shown that after the COVID-19 pandemic this gadget will surely become a definite part of every single human on earth. From your home groceries to the office work this will retain with us.
No matter how harmful this invention is for the human but it's the need of time. Before the pandemic, around 5 billion people were using mobile phones and after that, this number has greatly increased about two folds. It is around 40 years of the invention of mobile phones and still new advancement are going to make its more advance for the future.
All the cellular phone devices work by emitting electromagnetic radiation. Electromagnetic radiation is a form of light energy with no mass and charge travels in the form of small packets of photon or quanta. Electromagnetic spectrum consists of radio waves, infrared rays, gamma rays, x-rays, and cosmic rays.
EMF, electromagnetic radiations categorized into two groups of radiations; ionizing and non-ionizing radiations. Radiations emitting from communication devices and signal generating systems are non-ionizing radio waves, with high frequency and short wavelength. The frequency of these radiations ranges from 30 hertz (Hz) to 300 Gigahertz (GHz).
Unlike ionizing radiations, non-ionizing radiations are less harmful because they are not capable of knocking out the electrons from the atom at which they strike, but capable of producing heat.  Cell phone-specific absorption rate (SAR), is the absorption rate of other forms of energy by tissue, measured in Watts/Kg. According to this the upper limit of SAR is 1.6 watts per kilogram (W/kg) of body weight, and a mobile phone emits 0.1 to 2 watts at the operating frequency.
Moreover, the use of mobile phones has been increased with the severe exposure rate. Social media networking has dragged the living system to the more vulnerable stage where everyone is getting effected by EMF by its own will. Pre-clinical and clinical studies have been conducted to find out the adverse effect of EMF on the human body.
EFFECTS OF MOBILE PHONE RADIATION
  1.  Long-term use of mobile phones at night leads to the suppression of melatonin which disrupts the biological clock of the body.
  2. Sleep timing decreases lead to the disruption of a hunger hormone and obesity will occur also it impairs the memory
  3.  Long time exposure leads to the production of heat. According to clinical studies, this heat has been the cause of skin irritation and erythema.
  4. Preclinical studies showed some drastic hippocampal changes of the brain, the formation of vacuole and neuron degeneration upon EMF exposure
  5. Alteration in the affinity of Hb to bind with oxygen.
  6. Blue tooth, hands-free, and ear pods are the possible cause of transmission of heat directly from the gadgets and affect cognitive functions of the brain.
  7. Eyesight get affected after the development of cataract. This occurs due to the formation of heat in the eye lens generated by emitted EMF.
WHAT ARE THE FACTORS ON WHICH THE EXPOSURE DEPENDS?
  • ·         Distance of mobile phone from head
  • ·         Distance of your house from the mobile station area
  • ·         Period of mobile usage
  • ·         The type of mobile phone. Because different phones emit variable frequency EMF.
